Art galleries can be found in renovated buildings all around New Bern, and murals on the walls of public buildings reflect the work of varied artists interpreting New Bern's history. Carolinian Shakespeare Festival performances are presented the first three weekends of August at the New Bern Civic Theatre in downtown New Bern. Bank of the Arts 317 Middle Street, (252) 638-2787 The Accidental Artist 220 Craven Street (252) 634-3411 A paint-your-own pottery store featuring contemporary, functional and decorative items. ART Gallery, Ltd. 502 Pollock Street (252) 670-4000 New Bern's oldest commercial gallery representing established artists and crafts people of North Carolina. Art of the Wild 218 Middle Street (252) 638-8806 features work of local artists, crafts people and jewelers. In addition to selling their own work, Carolina Creations displays and sells the work of over 300 well known artists and craftsmen from across the country and Canada. ArtWalk - sponsored by the Craven Arts Council, brings out the crowds to downtown New Bern on various Friday evenings throughout the year. You can enjoy art galleries, shopping and performing arts free of charge. The Pamlico Musical Society presents an annual series of concerts at the Pamlico County Civic and Cultural Center on Broad Street. The quality of these concerts is fantastic. Movies are also presented at the Pamlico County Civic and Cultural Center, a historic movie theater on Broad Street in the center of town. Art on the Neuse Arts and Master Crafts Festival is a one-day fine art and craftsmen festival, celebrating a day of art in Oriental. Here artists showcase their newest creations.
