First Night New Bern 2010

First Night New Bern 2010 will be the opening event for The City of New Bern's 300th Anniversary Celebration and will include over 30 sites for entertainment - many free events, some requiring purchase of a Button for admission. Buttons may be purchased for $8.00 until 12/23/09 and $10.00 after 12/23/09. Children ages 5 years and under are Free.
The Children's Venue takes place from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center with indoor and outdoor events. It is geared to children ages 10 and under and their families. I recently had a lady ask me to help her find a lot in New Bern for a new mobile home she was going to buy. I asked her why she was buying a mobile home and she said no one would help her except the mobile home company. They offered her a $100,000 mobile home at 7% interest. Now this lady has worked 2 jobs for 10 years, has no bad credit and is just a nice person. I went with her to talk with Miriam Willis at First South Bank who is nice to everyone - and low and behold - she qualified for a good loan on a home. Well, to make things better, we got someone to build her a home right where she wanted it and she got to select the house plan. At closing we all cried like babies. NEVER GIVE UP MY FRIENDS!
