Friday, January 14th, is the first evening for the New Bern ArtWalk 2011 series. Galleries, art-related shops, restaurants and stores will have extended hours on Friday in downtown New Bern. Take in new art exhibit openings such as the Bank of the Arts "A Shared Promise and Responsibility". The exhibit features photography by Bill Lease and pottery by Eastern North Carolina Potters. And while at the Bank of the Arts, be sure to purchase your ticket for the 'Empty Bowls' fundraiser, a project designed to fight hunger. Local churches and restaurants will make, serve and donate soup and bread to serve at the event, scheduled for Thursday, February 10th at Temple Baptist Church. You will also get your choice of a locally-made pottery bowl.
