Come join us on New Year's Eve for the annual 'Running of the Dragon', a tradition in Oriental, North Carolina for over four decades. The first dragon run begins at 8:30 p.m. You won't want to miss him lumbering down Hodges Street as children of all ages bang pots and pans to drive off evil spirits, touch the dragon for luck and bring in the New Year. A new Midnight Dragon comes out at 11:30 p.m. and finishes his run just before the 'Croaker Drop' at midnight at the Town Dock. You don't want to miss these long-standing Oriental traditions!
