Salvation Army Bike DonationColdwell Banker Willis-Smith agents stand among the 25 bicycles they purchased for donation to the Salvation Army's Angel Tree Program.  The Angel Tree program provides underprivileged children with holiday gifts such as bicycles, clothing, and toys.  Each year the agents adopt 25 children whose Wish List includes a bike.  To complete the Wish Lists, each agent chooses a specific child and purchases other wished-for items so each child can experience the true Joy of Christmas.  A monetary contribution was also delivered to Major Daniel H. Birks of the Salvation Army.

Market Update - A Local Perspective

As the holiday season approaches, buyers are continuing to look for opportunities in our local real estate market.  The inventory of homes is plentiful, mortgage rates are at their lowest in memory, and homes prices have trended downward. According to the statistics in our Multiple Listing Service, NRRAR, the first 10 months of 2011 show our market area experiencing only a 1% decrease year-over-year in the number of homes sold and an 8% decrease in the average selling price, from $171,084 to $157,982.  Realistically, these numbers show the lower average sales price that has kept our company busy.  Average days on the market during the first ten months of 2010 were 213 days versus 222 days for the same period this year.

MUMS, MUMS, AND MORE MUMS!

New Bern has been full of fall colors for the past months.  No one can imagine, unless you are here, just how beautiful this community looks.  Nestled between two large rivers with a casual walkway on the water all around the city, anyone can enjoy this 60 to 70 degree weather. 

mums_2_160In the past 30 days, we have had “Ghost Walk”, the “Mum Festival”, the “Bike MS Historic New Bern”, Neuse River Run, “ArtWalk”, and numerous performances at Tryon Palace.  This town is brimming with enjoyable things to do.  Everyone can find something that fits their fancy.  Now, having said all that, do come to New Bern and experience this delightful community.  You will never be sorry and, I bet, you will want to come here to stay.

2011 ArtWalk and Holiday Home & Gift Show
