New Bern is blossoming for Spring!
Posted by Nancy Stallings on Tuesday, March 30th, 2010 at 1:38pm.So many good things are happening in New Bern this Spring. We just opened our new $41 million Alfred Cunningham Bridge that provides a welcoming entry to Historic downtown New Bern. My office at Coldwell Banker Willis-Smith is located just two blocks from the newly replaced bridge. Along with our new bridge, we have almost completed one of our main thoroughfare streets, Broad Street. Believe it or not, we narrowed the street, put parking along the sides, and will put all the wiring underground and plant trees in the center island. Fifty years ago, Broad Street trees were removed to make the street wider to accommodate large truck traffic that came across the Neuse River by way of the John Lawson Bridge. That bridge was torn down in early 2000 following the opening of the $120 million Neuse River Bridge.
Now New Bern is back to being a peninsula city - located at the convergence of the Neuse and Trent Rivers. Union Point Park along the Neuse River provides a place for families to enjoy both rivers. Obviously, I am so excited about all we have done over the past 30 years to make New Ben the destination location for new families from all over this country. We are a safe, exciting, beautiful place to live!! 'Good Morning America' said we were the best small town in the US. Give me a call and I'll show you around this great city which is officially 300 years old this year- come help us celebrate! Nancy Stallings 252-617-7520.

New Bern is fantastic. I really enjoyed the bridge opening week before last. I felt like I was living a Norman Rockwell painting with all the business owners walking the bridge for the first time together. The drivers passing one another at a slow crawl to take it all in for the first time were giving one another "high fives". It is a great time to be a New Bernian.
