Whew! Irene is gone but not forgotten. . . . she stayed just a little too long. And now the clean-up begins. Utility workers are making the necessary repairs to restore the power but some neighborhoods may be without power until later this week. . . .so generators have been big sellers! Harris Teeter in New Bern gave away 16,800 bags of ice and three tractor-trailer loads of gallon jugs of water to those without power. Clean-up and repairs are underway, but it will take some time. Thankfully, there were no deaths in our area associated with the hurricane. For more on Irene's aftermath, visit the New Bern Sun Journal.
