After growing up in the Bay Area, in San Mateo, I attended U.C. Berkeley, earning a B.A. in French and Dramatic Arts.  During my time in San Francisco's financial district alongside my father, I discovered the cornerstones of every successful business are personal relationships and exceptional customer service.  From his shop, I went on to be a sales rep for distinguished catalogs of books at the likes of Simon and Schuster and Random House, and spent the next 25 years of my life in the rather splendid world of books as a regional sales manager, prominent bookstore events producer, publicist, and agent.

After a move to New York, followed by a remarkable year in New Zealand, I returned in 1994 to the Bay Area — and more specifically San Anselmo. While still active in the book community, I started to spend more of my time and efforts in the world of retail and fashion, transferring the pleasure I got from matching people with books to making them feel either beautiful or handsome by matching them to the right sartorial adornment.

Since settling in San Anselmo, Marin County, I've been deeply involved in the community. My contributions range from chairing my son's school book fair and supporting local student extracurricular activities, to active roles in fundraising and cultural events like Marin Open Studios. I've also collaborated with organizations such as the Marin County UNICEF committee, the League of Women Voters, and the YWCA, and have been instrumental in preserving San Anselmo's Memorial Park. My dedication to these initiatives reflects my commitment to enriching our community's educational and cultural landscape.

When I’m not working or exercising my civic duties towards the county, I can be spotted at local supermarkets, farmer’s markets, restaurants and bakeries, taking advantage of the embarrassment of riches we enjoy in Marin. Whenever I leave town, I am reminded that we are the envy of most of this nation! I can also be spotted in my own kitchen, cooking —- and often baking for family, friends and neighbors. Perhaps my mother’s penchant for baking, no doubt gleaned from growing up in Vienna, Austria, was transmitted genetically to me?

All told, I learned the importance of customer service and honoring my customers above all.  It’s been instilled in me from the cradle onward.
