Personal Background

From 1993 until 2011, before embarking on his real estate career, Art operated one of New Jersey's most successful choose-and-cut Christmas tree farms, attracting customers from all New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and five New York boroughs. He specialized in the planting, organic cultivation, and marketing of Douglas, Concolor and Canaan fir; Blue, Norway, and Black Hills spruce; and White and Scotch pine. Art took a young tree farm and turned it into a well-known and respected operation that was featured in the Financial Times of London, the New York Daily News, the New Jersey Star Ledger and many other publications.

As Director of Public Affairs for Merck Co. Inc., Art managed a group of professionals developing international communications plans and facilitating public relations activities in Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America. He also oversaw the communications activities of Merck operations in Singapore, China, Australia, and Latin America.

In his earlier career, Art worked as a reporter for the St. Louis Globe-Democrat, a major morning newspaper, covering everything from murders to medicine. His beats included police headquarters, the city's civil, criminal, and federal courts, and ultimately served as the newspaper's chief medical writer.
