Indians, fur trappers, mountain men and prospectors all used the Currant Creek Pass in their travels from South Park down the Arkansas River basin. In 1844, Lieutenant John C. Fremont and his guide, Kit Carson, traveled through the ranch on their way back from surveying CA.
