What Do You Expect in a Realtor?

I would like to think that you expect a high standard of skill - for that person to know the types of contracts exist, what they mean and when is the best time to use which one. You want to know the benefits and risks all along the way. It is contract knowledge and experience ... it is the negotiation ... it is facilitating - in a way that works for you, the customer - the sale or purchase of the property you desire, in the least amount of time possible, and at the best price possible.

You expect your realtor to have local knowledge. Sometimes it is specific to your neighborhood; sometimes it is broader. But a realtor with their finger on the pulse ought to be able to describe with ease some of the trends currently happening in their area.

I moved to Sarasota in 2007 after living in the UK for 18 years. Becoming acclimated to the US again after all that time was as interesting and challenging as it was to move to England in 1988, except this time I was doing it on my own, as a single parent.

Like many "middle aged" people who move to Florida, I have a parent who has become increasingly vulnerable, and I am here to help him. It is not surprising then that I excel in helping people who are also in a similar situation, or having to sell property through trusts or as part of an estate. That paralegal degree I earned comes in handy when it comes to maneuvering through all the necessary paperwork, and the counseling degree helps too because it is typically an emotionally stressful time for family members.

A former Vice President of the Society of Consumer Affairs Professionals (UK), I have a tremendous grounding in providing superior service for my customers. I believe in using professional photography, no matter the price point.
