More about Sonny Martin

Raymond "Sonny" Martin

I was born in Reading, Pennsylvania. At the age of 18, I joined the Navy and served on the Destroyer Escort USS Ingraham for 6 years, where I was the chief cook. While in the Navy, we spent most of the time in the Mediterranean. When I returned from the Navy, I moved to Kutztown, PA, where I built and operated a large restaurant & motel for many years. This led me to the development and rehabbing of homes and businesses in the area for the next 30 years.

I then married, and we had 2 children who became college graduates of Shippensburg University. My son is now a top realtor in Reading, PA and my daughter is involved in the energy field in New Jersey.
When my kids were young, we enjoyed taking them and friends to Indian River, having fun on our boat and offshore fishing. In the 1980’s, we began spending a good bit of time in the Florida Keys. I still enjoy offshore fishing and scuba diving and have been scuba diving in Puerto Rico, Australia, Bahamas, Mexico, Key Largo and The Virgin Islands. I especially enjoy the month my young grandson spends with me every summer fishing & boating.

Another pastime I have always pursued is buying & selling cars, boats & motorcycles. We own an orange & blue 1955 Chevy Belair wagon and enjoy taking it to the University of Florida football games.
Our home here is not far from the Lido Beach /St, Armand's Circle area, where my fiancé, Camille and I like to ride our bikes, find nice places to listen to music, go to the beach and walk our two dogs. Since 2001, Camille has owned & operated an Antique shop & Camellia Antiques Estate Sales business in the Gainesville area and she is now servicing the Sarasota area.

I pride myself, whether a client is buying or selling, on tending to the extra details and helping clients find their perfect new home. My motto is (which also happens to be the name of my boat) Seas the day!
