I am a lifetime resident of the south suburbs and a homeowner. I have cats, enjoy reading, hiking, exercise, and - of course - real estate!
I enjoyed a 25-year career (1980-2005) selling environmental remediation and hazardous waste disposal. My primary client base was industrial manufacturers, utilities, railroads, and federal and state government. The best part about my job was developing relationships with my clients and working with them to define solutions to their problems. During the 80's and 90's, the environmental industry was relatively new and evolving. Environmental regulations mandated new solutions to old problems. It was an exciting time, and I so enjoyed being part of a business that was creative and challenging. Naturally, after 25 years, opportunities to offer new solutions became fewer. The new solutions we invented were no longer new, and many industrial clients began leaving the US. More and more often the one common driver of new business was (of all things) real estate! Cleanups were only necessary if a property was being sold.
I decided to pursue my realtor's license in 2005 and have been helping buyers and sellers ever since. I've never looked back. Real estate is certainly an industry where relationship building and problem solving are top priorities. I feel a sense of satisfaction every time I help a client close a deal. During the recession, I was so honored to help the recovery by going to work every day and helping the recover one house at a time.
I also feel a civic responsibility and sense of patriotism. If the realtor can be the dog wagging the tail of economic recovery then count me in! I currently serve as Chairman of the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors south suburban Government Affairs Committee. As Chair, I'm fortunate to be able to communicate directly with Senators, Representatives, County Officials, and Mayors and Managers to protect private property rights and to promote the practice of real estate.
