As one of the first settlements in Central Massachusetts, the small town of Mendon boasts a rich and colorful history. Conveniently located between Worcester, Boston, and Providence, this town was founded in 1660 and incorporated into the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1668. Historic Route 16 runs through the town center while Route 495 and Route 146 are each a short drive away. Mendon once consisted of the surrounding towns of Upton, Blackstone, Uxbridge, Bellingham, Milford, Northbridge, and Millville. As other towns broke off into separate industrial communities, Mendon has remained a quaint farming town and earned the nickname of “Mother Mendon”.

Still filled with small farms and a small population, Mendon also includes the Mendon Twin Drive-In, one of the last remaining drive-in movie theatres in the State, and Southwick’s Zoo which hosts a variety of local and exotic animals. Read More

Mendon Town Beach and Nipmuc Pond lay only a short drive from the picturesque town center. Mendon also is part of the Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor, a national park that honors the beginning of the American Industrial Revolution.
