Numerous species of wildlife can be viewed on the ranch. One may occasionally see mule deer, elk, and moose. A nice population of sharp tail grouse are often encountered throughout the year. Ducks, geese, and sand hill cranes, although seasonal, are viewed here throughout the summer. Headquarters consists of a beautiful handcrafted log home, a large partially restored barn with attached loafing shed. Cattle handling and working facilities are well designed and functional. Currently the ranch is fenced into 13 pastures and rotation grazing of livestock is flexible and convenient. The domestic well at the house has a water right. Two other old irrigation wells have no record. Numerous springs and seeps originate on the ranch and form Two small creeks that flow to the river. Some springs and a creek on the property are seasonal. However, cattle generally have access to good water in all pastures. The temperature of the water in several springs appears to be somewhat warmer than would normally be expected and stay open and flowing in winter, in the absence of extreme and lengthy cold. The ranch terrain is gently rolling hills with some level and The majority of the ranch has at one time or another been farmed, grain and hay production. Until recently about 600 acres had been enrolled in Conservation Reserve Program. The current ranch program is a summer grazing operation. A reasonable estimate for carrying capacity would be 200-250 mother cows or 350 + yearlings/ stocker calves.
