Stoneman Lake is one of the few high-elevation communities readily accessible from Phoenix (only a 1.5 hour drive from I-17 and the Carefree Highway). The cabin is at 6820′ and is typically above the snow line as you gain over 1500′ even after you leave the exit on I-17. Not only do you regularly get snow, but Stoneman Lake is arguably the only natural lake in all of Arizona. Although this cabin gives you the option to live mostly off the grid, you're only a quick half-hour drive to the Village of Oak Creek and less than an hour away from Flagstaff. You'll also enjoy the reliability of water supplied by the Cactus State Utility Operating Company. The cabin (362 x 242) sits on more than a half acre and features two bedrooms with queen beds and closets, a full bath, and an upstairs loft (232 x 152) that currently serves as an additional sleeping area with three twin beds but could also be used for storage or a home office. A screened-in porch (202 x 82) extends along the front west side, large decks extend along the south side (although these need to be repaired or replaced), and there are two storage cupboards built into the back east side next to the gravel driveway. The fenced-in yard is perfect for playing with pets, building snow forts, or making s'mores by the campfire. A new roof was installed in 2021. Owned by the same family since 1986, this cabin is designed to be a wooded mountain lake refuge from the Valley while still being as accessible and low maintenance as possible.
