GARY BOSWORTH

Having the luxury to choose where he wanted to live, Gary Bosworth, a more recent transplant to the Monterey Peninsula, brings his passion for the area, a keen interest in real estate, over 30 years of experience as a business and engineering manager, and a precision focus on results to help his clients find their dream home.

“I grew up in the Seattle area and obtained a bachelor’s in engineering from the University of Washington. My engineering career started in Southern California with a company that later became part of Raytheon Company to form one of the nation’s largest defense contractors. I earned a master’s in ocean engineering from the University of Southern California. Additionally, I became a licensed professional engineer in the State of California. Later, following a transfer to the Detroit area to start a commercial business, I earned a master’s in business administration from Michigan State University.

My career rapidly evolved through a variety of engineering, project, and business management roles with increasing responsibility. This included being the director for a consulting group that provided engineering and information technology services to clients including our largest - General Motors Corporation. My business management roles required understanding and developing specific marketing and advertising strategies that were focused on achieving sales goals which were met year after year.

After working in the automotive sector for half my career I returned to Southern California to work initially on Homeland Security and then on space and airborne programs primarily for the US Department of Defense. Through this experience I understand the need to perform to exacting standards to see that my clients unique and critical requirements are met.

The importance of who I selected to represent me in the sale and purchase of my homes was made clear by experience in relocating across the country as a widower with pre-teen children. Additionally, during the past two years I have been through three buying or selling transactions of my own homes (including my home in Monterey) giving me a first-hand perspective of my client’s needs.

After retiring from my corporate career, I became more involved with a non-profit organization serving in leadership roles including president of the Board of Trustees managing over $1 million in property renovation and maintenance projects and for a time was an on-line course instructor at UCLA Extension.

In my spare time, I enjoy learning the art of bonsai, discovering the wines of Monterey County, and hiking the local trails around Big Sur and the coastal mountains. I am also the proud father of my two children who are young adults with careers of their own and I look forward to the day when we can spend more time together.”
