More about Jim Bartell

I’ve always been interested in homes and property and community. This together has led to a career in Real Estate.

Long before I started to work in the buying and selling of property, I earned experience in many related ways. I worked in construction and supervised the building of homes. I worked in journalism and wrote stories about homes and real estate. Even before I went to work in real estate, I worked for a real estate brokerage in the advertising and promotion of real estate.

Some 12 years ago I finally decided it was time to become an agent. Watson’s Realty was one of the companies that I was working to promote. I asked the owner if they would consider hiring me as an agent if I earned my license. “Absolutely,” was the response, and so it all began.

So, I started my Real Estate Agent career at age 62. Almost all of this has taken place in my hometown of the last 35 years, Palm Desert, California. As I care greatly about community,  most of it has happened where I’ve lived for all of this time at Deep Canyon Tennis Club, also in Palm Desert.

In addition, I bring a lot of personal knowledge to the table gained in a variety of jobs and careers over many decades. I have been an educator, an editor, a manager and a writer.

Careers have included being the Managing Editor for a 23-paper weekly newspaper group in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I worked as a Tennis Director and Teaching Professional at World Class Resorts in Hawaii and the Caribbean. I worked in Hotel Management and Guest Services for Rosewood Hotels on St. John in the Virgin Islands and Embassy Suites and the Hyatt Hotels here in the Desert.

I am also very experienced with Home Owner Association management and business. I have served on the Board of Directors for Deep Canyon Tennis Club, including one year as Board President.

Real Estate is very much a people and relationships business. That is what I greatly enjoy about it and it has brought me so much satisfaction over the years. And, that is why I continue to  be involved even at an age when so many of my contemporaries dream only of retirement.
