Coldwell Banker Charitable Foundation and Special Spaces Team Up to Create Dream Bedroom Makeover for 5-year-old Mount Prospect Girl
Deerfield, Ill. (March 07, 2016) – The Coldwell Banker Charitable Foundation and Special Spaces
Northern Illinois Chapter, a non-profit organization that creates dream bedrooms for children with lifethreatening
medical conditions, are teaming up for a bedroom makeover for 5-year-old Mount Prospect
resident, Vita Viggiano.
On Friday, March 18 Vita will come home to find a big surprise – a new dream Disney princess-themed
bedroom. Vita was born with cystic fibrosis and undergoes daily vest therapy and nebulizer treatments
for at least 50 minutes per day. Between hospital stays and hardships at such a young age, her spunky
personality shines bright. Vita enjoys painting, playing with dolls and going to school. She absolutely
adores her baby brother and four-year-old sister, Maya, with whom she shares a room. Vita and Maya
are inseparable and their love of everything Disney princess was the inspiration for their new space.
The room will include brand new beds for the girls, new lighting, additional storage, lots of pink princess
décor, a TV for Vita to watch while receiving her daily treatments and much, much more.
To help complete makeovers, Special Spaces depends on donations from individuals, local businesses,
groups and even other foundations. Vita’s room makeover is being funded by the Coldwell Banker
Charitable Foundation.
Fran Broude, President of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, said “We are so proud and excited to
give Vita a new bedroom. Our Foundation supports housing-related charities, and for an ill child their
bedroom is definitely where they feel the most at home.”
Special Spaces’ goal is to create dream bedrooms for children with life-threatening medical illnesses.
The focus is answering one question: Where does a child go when battling a serious illness to find peace
and comfort? Their bedroom. “A bedroom is often the only personal space a child has to represent his
or her unique personality, explains Amy Eiduke, Director of the Northern Illinois Chapter for Special
Spaces and the Communication Director for Coldwell Banker. “For a child with a critical illness, that
room should be a very special space of comfort and refuge.”
