Coldwell Banker Charitable Foundation and Special Spaces Team Up to Create a Dream Bedroom Makeover for 16-year-old Palatine Resident
Deerfield, IL. (July 31, 2015) – The Coldwell Banker Charitable Foundation and Special Spaces Northern
Illinois Chapter, a non-profit organization that creates dream bedrooms for children with lifethreatening
medical conditions, are teaming up for a bedroom makeover for a 16-year-old Palatine
resident.
On Tuesday, August 4, Feyza Yazar will come home to find a big surprise – a new dream bedroom. Feyza
has been recently diagnosed with leukemia and is currently undergoing chemotherapy and treatment.
Despite the treatment causing her sickness and nausea, Feyza is an eternal optimist, and continues to
keep a smile on her face.
The new teen room makeover will include new furniture including a day bed, desk and vanity, a custom
closet, an aqua and grey color scheme throughout and much, much more.
To help complete makeovers, Special Spaces depends on donations from individuals, local businesses,
groups and even other foundations. Feyza’s room makeover is being funded by the Coldwell Banker
Charitable Foundation.
Fran Broude, President of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, said “We are so proud and excited to
give Feyza a new bedroom. Our Foundation supports housing-related charities, and for an ill child their
bedroom is definitely where they feel the most at home.”
Special Spaces’ goal is to create dream bedrooms for children with life-threatening medical illnesses.
The focus is answering one question: Where does a child go when battling a serious illness to find peace
and comfort? Their bedroom.
“A bedroom is often the only personal space a child has to represent his or her unique personality,”
explains Amy Eiduke, Director of the Northern Illinois Chapter for Special Spaces and the
Communication Director for Coldwell Banker. “For a child with a critical illness, that room should be a
very special space of comfort and refuge.”
