Right in the Heart of Chaffee County Recreation areas! Year round Poncha Creek is in your front yard though the property does not border it. Walk off your property onto National Forest and to The Rainbow Trail single track which runs through public land for approximately 100 miles to just beyond Westcliffe. The old Mears Junction Railroad grade on the property leads right to it. O'Haver Lake and Marshall Pass are just down County Road 200 for great hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, ATV'ing, camping, etc. Monarch ski and snowboard area is just 30 minutes away. Poncha Loop recreation area is just 2 miles away and provides incredible access to thousands of square miles of Forest Service and BLM lands. Chaffee County Recreational zoning allows for camping with some limits. Old railroad grade crosses the property from the historic Mears Junction era from which this area gets it's name. Mears Junction was the point where the Marshall Pass narrow gauge line turned west towards the Continental Divide and the Valley Line continued south towards the summit of Poncha Pass. The junction was constructed in 1881 when both lines were built. The Valley Line was removed from Mears Junction in 1951, and the Marshall Pass line was abandoned in 1953 and physically removed in 1955.
