More about Tim Herbst

In addition to being a licensed realtor, Tim is an attorney that practices in the areas of land use and real estate law.  Tim’s love of real estate comes from his extensive background in land use.  He knows what it takes to conceptualize and execute a vision for a project, whether it be a single family home or a large-scale development.  He utilizes those skills with his real estate clients to help them visualize where they would like to live and imagine themselves there.  For sellers, he helps them stage and prep the house for sale.  The investment of time and energy at the beginning of the process allows for easy transactions and with managed expectations.

In 2020 Tim moved to the Connecticut shoreline.  Prior to that, he was a lifelong resident of Trumbull, Connecticut where he served as the 27th First Selectman of the Town of Trumbull, elected Trumbull’s youngest chief executive at the age of 29.  Before that, Tim was elected to the Trumbull Planning and Zoning Commission at the age of 19, becoming its Chairman at age 25. On a regional basis, Tim previously served as the Chairman of the Connecticut Metropolitan Council of Governments (“METROCOG”), a multi-discipline regional planning organization representing six municipalities. This role included assisting in planning for transportation, land use, economic development, housing, and environmental needs, while promoting strategies that foster inter-municipal coordination, collaboration, and shared services.  Tim’s commitment to public service and the community are notable.

On a personal level, Tim graduated with honors from Trinity College in 2002, earning a BA in political science.  During his time at Trinity, Tim was elected president of the student body.   He graduated from Pace University School of Law in 2007, where he was a member of the Pace Environmental Law Review.   He and his wife, Jacqueline, live in the Pine Orchard area of Branford.  And when Tim isn’t working, you can find him cooking for his wife, family and friends, working on his home, reading up on things, and either golfing or some other type of exercise.
