Biography
My name is Lorraine Montgomery; I am a first generation South African in the United States, currently living in Columbia, MD. I have been a licensed real estate agent since 2006, and a financial planner with a strong interest in taxation since 2009. Transitioning to real estate was a natural fit for me because I love getting to know clients’ lives and it gives me the opportunity to help people achieve their dreams. In financial planning not only was I helping people create financial plans, I was helping them make and achieve goals for a life time. It is similar in real estate because a home is typically one’s largest asset, it is one of the biggest investments that people make and I can guide them through the process of achieving that goal. My Bachelors in finance is a big push in understanding the inner-workings of real estate and helping clients. My continuing education in Accounting helps me understand the tax side of investing in a home whether it’s for personal use or for investment purposes. The greatest lesson I have learned and incorporated into my real estate practice is creating tremendous value. It gives me an opportunity to work with people through referrals from those that they know. I am grateful for people who seek my assistance in addressing their real estate needs, and I work hard to help people so that they can feel comfortable in referring me to their family members and friends. I make every effort to eliminate as much stress and uncertainty as possible from the process of selling or buying a home.

Community

I have a soft spot for Howard County and love the state of Maryland. I am in the process of becoming a volunteer for Howard County Association of Realtors legislative team. During tax season I volunteer with VITA to assist low income families to file their income taxes. I currently support our local charitable organizations through my participation in our Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage CARES foundation. Since inception, CARES has donated more than $1 million to a wide array of non-profit educational, health, welfare, environmental and cultural arts organizations in the Mid-Atlantic area. Through CARES, we sponsor the annual Harvest for the Hungry food drive, collecting nearly 36,000 pounds of food for our Mid-Atlantic neighbors every year.
