Gene De Poris has lived all over the world, from NYC to Paris to Rio, but calls Sarasota home. Residing here for forty years, he brings with him literally several decades of area knowledge.

Prior to moving to Sarasota, he spent his career in the publishing and entertainment industries, from book and magazine publishing to TV and films. Multilingual, Gene has spent his life traveling all over the planet, as well as all 50 states.

Gene is the multi-year recipient of Coldwell Banker's prestigious International President's Circle award, as well as being a Five Star agent and the recipient of the Best of Trulia and Best of Zillow awards, awarded by America's two pre-eminent  real estate websites.

While awards and stars are nice, nothing beats satisfied clients! If you go to Zillow, you can read nearly 100 reviews from happy customers posted on that site.

Gene has been a board member of many of the area non-profit organizations, and is best known locally as the founder and original publisher of the prestigious regional publication, West Coast Woman.

When not in Sarasota, Gene can be found studying grizzly bears in Montana, exploring ancient civilizations in Uzbekistan, studying the genocide in Rwanda, hunting for dinosaur fossils in Mongolia, following the Serengeti wildebeest migration in Tanzania, riding on the Trans-Siberian Express, or exploring the haunts of snow leopards in Kyrgyzstan.

In recent years, Gene has visited jungle temples in Cambodia, Greco-Roman ruins in Sicily, jaguars in the jungles of Brazil, hill tribes in Myanmar, alpine villages, orangutans in Borneo, and Komodo dragons in Indonesia.

The rest of the time, he can be found selling real estate in Sarasota, to pay for his trips. :-)
