More about Joy Rodgers

My Approach

I have a unique perspective on buying and selling a home borne from my own experience of owning three homes during my 20 plus years as a resident of the North Shore. I understand the importance of matching your home buying and selling experience with your changing needs - buying your first home, raising a family, downsizing to an empty nest or creating a retirement home to "age in place."

Your home is one of your largest investments and the place where you create some of the best memories of your life, and my objective is to help you find and protect that most important financial and personal asset.

Personal Background
I live in Hamilton with my husband and our Golden Doodle, where we raised two children who attended Hamilton-Wenham public schools. We find ourselves as empty-nesters with both our kids in college. I enjoy taking advantage of the wonders of the North Shore - the trails in Appleton Farms, the sand at Singing Beach, the restaurants of downtown Newburyport and the picturesque harbor of Rockport, among many other sites and activities. I have a background in education and health care, and I am a strong proponent of our local schools and of using our homes to create an opportunity for people to "age in place" within the community.

Testimonials

Joy worked with my senior citizen friend to sell the home that her husband had built and that she had lived in for sixty years. Leaving was extremely emotional. Joy's prior experience working with the elderly really sets her apart. She was incredibly compassionate and patient in helping my friend make a very difficult transition in her life. All of the technical aspects of listing and selling the home were exemplary but it was the special care with which she treated my friend that set her apart in my mind. She handled many tasks that the average seller would take care of but that an elderly seller may find overwhelming. She also spent countless hours assisting Marge in finding a new place to live. Her service is truly specialized when working with a senior citizen. I would recommend Joy Rodgers without reservation whether you are buying, selling or renting. She will give it her all and you will be extremely satisfied.

I've been friends with Joy for almost twenty years and was thrilled and excited for her when she became a realtor. At that time I was not in the market to sell my house yet, but always knew that Joy would be the one when it was time. It became time in November, 2014, and I started talking to Joy about the process of getting my house ready for sale and the eventual move to an apartment that would meet my new lifestyle. Joy was with me the whole step of the way, from looking for condos/rentals for me, consulting on the necessary work to get my house ready for sale, marketing the house, giving me feedback after each open house or buyer visit, keeping an organized checklist of deal points, responsibilities, and deadlines to keep the whole house sale process as smooth and worry free as possible for me, and then getting me to the actual closing. In between it all, Joy helped me pack and move, found homes for furniture I couldn't take with me, helped me pack up things for donations, fed me, filled in for me with service workers and inspectors when I couldn't take the time off from work, the list goes on and on. Joy did all these extras that were above and beyond, primarily because she's a wonderful and caring person, and she brings the same to her work as a realtor. Her approach to her responsibilities as a realtor is to treat her clients with respect and care, understanding full well how stressful this whole process can be, and to treat each client no differently than how she would like to be treated if the shoe was on the other foot. Joy was able to give me a new life in less than ten months, from the time we starting talking in late November, 2014 to my closing in mid September, 2015. I highly recommend Joy and said as much on my Facebook page, and the amount of likes and comments my post received is a testament to how highly Joy is thought of in our North Shore community.
