Quiet and quaint, Marion is a small seaside town in Plymouth County. Originally part of neighboring Rochester, Marion was built as a home for Sea Captains and sailors who relied on Buzzard’s Bay as an outlet to the Atlantic for fishing and whaling. The town’s economy still relies on Buzzard’s Bay as it attracts a large group of tourists in the summer months. The real estate in Marion features everything from small beachside bungalows, single family cape houses, and large waterfront estates.
48 miles Southwest of Boston and 12 miles East of New Bedford, Marion’s access to I-195, Route 105, and Route 6 allows for easy commuting throughout the South Shore. During the summer, residents have access to Silver Shell Beach and Planting Island. The town center hosts an array of small businesses, galleries, and eateries and, like other communities along the south shore, serves as a haven and inspiration for artists.
