After moving from her hometown of St. Louis, MO., she relocated with her husband and three children to Mountain Lakes, NJ. There she spent a number of years raising her three children and volunteering for various organizations including serving on the church parish council, serving on the board of a community soup kitchen, and running a math mentorship program for gifted children. From there they moved to Winston-Salem, NC where she was a member of the National Association of Female Executives, Professional Women of Winston-Salem, and a parishioner of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church. She also enjoyed working to help those in need, and gave a percentage of each closed sale towards various organizations such as the Second Harvest Food Pantry, Crossnore School and Children's Home, Experiment in Self Reliance, and Habitat for Humanity.

As a full-time REALTOR, Karan has worked with first time home owners, move-up buyers and sellers, luxury estates, downsizing, and new construction. Karan's husband John is also a REALTOR and they work together to better meet the needs of their clients. She has designation as an Accredited Buyers Representative, a Strategic Pricing Specialist, and an Accredited Luxury Home Specialist. She and John are savvy with internet marketing and social media and have a state-of-the-art website with extensive property search capability, links to Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, a mortgage calculator, a blog and many other useful features.
