Real estate is my third career. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems from UMBC in 1988 and began my professional life as a programmer. While I expected to remain in technology long term, a family opportunity changed that path when my father asked me to take over his cheesesteak stall, Andy’s Best, in Baltimore’s historic Lexington Market.

Leaving programming to run a food business may seem unlikely, but I quickly discovered that I enjoyed working for myself. I later purchased Mount Olympus, a neighboring Greek food stall. While at Lexington Market, I met Effie Athan, who was operating her own business, Sandwich King. We became friends, partners, and eventually built a life together.

In 2005, Effie and I sold our individual businesses and purchased the Fork Deli in Fork, Maryland. After managing a seven-month renovation, we transformed the space into Sunshine Grille, a family-style restaurant known for its breakfast, Greek cuisine, and gourmet sandwiches. Over the next two decades—and tens of thousands of gyros later—we successfully operated the business before selling it after a long and rewarding run.

Today, Effie continues to experiment in the kitchen (now at home), and I focus on helping buyers, sellers, and investors make informed real estate decisions. As a restaurateur, my success depended on understanding the market, adapting to change, knowing my customers, and delivering consistent results—skills that translate directly to real estate advisory work. In addition, I bring firsthand experience as an investor who has purchased, sold, and personally financed properties.

I genuinely enjoy working with people and take pride in helping them succeed.
