This early 1900's home is situated directly across from Wenona Harbor and is Not waterfront but about as close as you can get! Public boat ramp and marina, beautiful rugged working boats, fish and seafood harvests, old crab shanty's, magestic Skipjacks, the legendary working sail boats of the Chesapeake of which only a few remain, are just outside your front door. Love local culture? Enjoy the harborside picnic tables just next door at Arby's Dock Bar & Grill, the only food service around and I'm sure you'll hear some stories. Walk a very short distance to the end of Deal Island Rd to see gorgeous panoramic views from the lower tip of the island. You will love the connection to the outdoors from the fully enclosed front porch, the oversized 2nd floor deck, and my favorite feature, the 3rd floor rooftop lookout where you can see all the way around the island. The house features a wonderful sized kitchen with modern finishes and excellent functionality featuring lots of cabinets, large island with gas stove and seating area, and a beautiful array of windows looking directly out to the Harbor. First floor also offers a large open living room area with a seperate section where there may have previously been a room with a wall removed. This could possibly be added back and used as a bedroom. There is a curtain mounted there from the past owners. A large cozy gas fireplace warms the room and creates the perfect winter ambiance! Just off the living area to the rear, is the older part of the home which has a separate entrance, sitting room area, the original kitchen (now used for laundry), a bedroom, and a full bathroom. This could function as separate living quarters. Upstairs in the main house you find 2 nicely sized bedrooms and a charming full bathroom! One bedroom has outside access to the 2nd floor deck which has amazing views of the water and plenty of room to enjoy eating outside or just watching the scene. Pull down access to the attic gets you up to the rooftop hatch for the lookout tower. It would be lovely to open this up with a spiral staircase! Steeped in interesting history from the 1600's with British settlers and plenty of real Pirate stories, Deal Island is a fisherman's dream, a hide-a-way, and a nature sanctuary which can almost erase the images of strip malls and traffic jams of daily life other places.
