Education and Training

Prior to real estate, Christine earned a B.A. from The Claremont Colleges, CA, and studied Marketing and retailing at The Tobe-Coburn School, NY, NY. After that she worked for 15 years in NYC in the Radio and Cable TV industries, where she focused on building business for local and national clients. These positions played a key role in perfecting the negotiating and customer service skills that now benefit her current real estate clients.

Personal Background

Born in New York City, and raised in Summit, NJ, Christine Layng has been passionate about and working in the Summit area real estate for almost 20 years.

Outside of Real Estate, Christine used to enjoy playing both tennis and squash, now she enjoys playing Pickleball. Swimming, biking and organic gardening are other interests.  Growing up in a family of great cooks, she has become one herself; her interest in health and nutrition is often reflected in her cooking.

My father, William Hammond, recently sold a condominium in Basking Ridge, NJ, with the help of my sister, Cynthia, and me. We selected Christine Layng from your office as our realtor. I have been involved in three real estate transactions in three different states over the past 18 months, and I feel compelled to write you to compliment Christine on this sale.

 

This was a delicate transaction due to my father’s age (90), his decreasing cognitive skills, and his trepidation about moving from New Jersey after 51 years to be near my family and me in Connecticut. From the outset, Christine showed him tremendous respect and sensitivity. She maintained that compassion during the entire process.

 

As our father’s powers of attorney, my sister and I also worked with Christine on a daily basis; usually several times a day by text, email, and phone. She was always available and always more than willing to provide answers to all our questions and solve any problems in a very timely and knowledgeable way.

 

She showed tremendous integrity and professionalism an all aspects of this sale from listing to closing. Since my sister and I live out of state, Christine jumped in to recommend tradespeople for repairs, helped us find charitable organizations for donations, and many, many other minute details.

 

She advised us on how to stage the condo in order to attract customers so we painted, had new carpet installed and upgraded several minor items. Obviously it worked because fewer than 48 hours after listing, the condo went to contract for full asking price, and it closed on time.

 

No bump in the road was too big or too small for her, and she never lost her patience. We trusted her judgment every step of the way, and she did not fail us.

 

Our family made a wonderful friend in Christine during this process. And we will never forget her sensitivity and concern for our father, and her professionalism and kindness to our entire family.
