More about Yasmeen Scott

When I was young my parents divorced. We lived in Philadelphia. My father moved into a house that belonged to my great-aunt and inherited by my grandmother. The house needed work. My dad worked in infrastructure for the city so there was always a project my dad had around the house. I loved watching him work and enjoyed being his helper when allowed.

As I got older, I would rearrange my room or design my future home. During my freshman year at the University of South Carolina my aunt and uncle were building a house. My aunt and I would talk about the construction process and home’s design. I found it fascinating.

During this time my father’s health declined. He decided to sell his house to move to SC. He died before he could file paperwork and get his house listed. I didn't know that the paperwork was the deed to transfer ownership from my grandmother to my father. I was 19, in college, an only child, trying to handle the affairs of my deceased father.

That experience taught me: 1) family is precious, 2) I wanted Christ in my life, and 3) owning real estate builds wealth.

After graduating from college I worked in IT. As time went by, I began thinking about my future. I couldn't see myself designing training programs for the next five years but I didn't know what I wanted to do next.

In 2000, I moved back to Philly and rented a house with friends. but still not settled on what I wanted to do.

By 2002, my fiancé and I were house hunting. We did a lot of improvements to our first house and I became absorbed with home improvement and design. A few years later our family moved to SC.

This time we bought our personal home and multiple investment properties. My Realtor®, Sharon, suggested that I get my real estate license. With my personality, interests and the questions I asked, she thought I’d make a great agent. I was a bit skeptical at first. Then she told us that her husband’s job was relocating them to Brazil. It took that information to make up my mind.

I was taught to be active in and give back to my community. Providing time, money or resources to others benefits myself and others. Someone receives something needed and I learn more about my community. Sharon was caring and knew the market. I chose to get my license to be for others what Sharon was to us.

Real estate is an investment in your future. Yet, it often leads to anxiety because there's a lot of money at stake and people don't know what they don't know. Allow me to help you leave the stress and take the joy.
