Mark moved to Utah in 2004, lured by the unbeatable proximity of a metropolitan area to world recreation. That coupled with exceptional cap rates led him to found his property management firm, Birch Rentals, LLC, while representing buyers and sellers as an agent for Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage.
Under Mark's oversight, his fledgling firm quickly expanded to 26 single family homes along the Wasatch Front, from Farmington down through Salt Lake, Cottonwood Heights, Sandy and Draper. As founder Mark was also was instrumental in home selection, as the Realtor representing his investors on each transaction. Knowing what homes would fetch in the rental market was a tangible asset to his clients, and Mark remains one of the only Realtors in the Salt Lake Metro area who definitively understands both sales and rental market values. Mark's development and management in this capacity still give him a unique edge with investors and homeowners alike looking to navigate the market.
Since divesting his interest in Birch Rentals, LLC, in 2008 Mark has since focused exclusively on representing buyers and sellers in the Salt Lake Valley, principally on the East Bench, though he enjoys representing clients throughout the valley. Mark has a passion for mid-century homes such as his own in the St. Mary's and Arcadia Heights neighborhoods, and has done extensive remodeling, employing his own labor as well as a stable of well-vetted first rate contractors. He shares these professionals with his clients to help them address their own needs.
Prior to his career in real estate, Mark was recruited on a Division I athletic scholarship to the University of Notre Dame, where he received a varsity letter on the men's tennis team and graduated on the Dean's List with a degree in Finance. After a brief stint as a touring pro, Mark channeled his energy into investment banking, accepting a position as analyst with Banc of America Securities, LLC, logging grueling hours on structured settlements in excess of $300 million per transaction. Mark left the bank after his analyst rotation completed to further his career with greater autonomy and move back West where he wanted to be.
When Mark isn't assisting clients, he can be found in the Wasatch mountains with his friends. Mark's passions include rock and ice climbing but he also enjoys the big peaks. Among his accomplishments, Mark led a successful summit team up Denali (formerly Mt. McKinley) in 2008, the highest peak in North America and the coldest of the 7 summits. In addition, Mark also loves to ski and cook and has a passion for animals.
Mark credits his honesty and persistence and his love for the profession and real estate medium, for where he is today. He takes great care in protecting the interests of his clients in safeguarding their interests with their most valuable asset.

Mark went out of his way to include both my wife and I in all communications, which my wife really appreciated... During our home inspection, the inspector did not address my wife or really even talk to her. It was clear he wanted to talk to the man and not the woman. Afterward my wife commented to me that she did not like our home inspector because he did not address her. Anyway, that night Mark came by and personally apologized to my wife for the behavior of the inspector (however Mark had no idea that my wife had said anything about it)... Mark noticed the attitude of the inspector and without any hints or other signs came by out of his own free will and apologized to my wife... He didn't even know she had been offended by it. My wife and I both thought that this was exceptional. Mark was very attentive to detail and on top of everything. We were really impressed by him.
Mark did an awesome job for us... He was always respectful,courteous,and punctual. We looked forward to all of the house showings because he brought a great attitude and was always enthusiastic.
