Born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on 9 April 1945, was graduated from the University Of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in 1967 with a degree in Business Administration. From December 1968 through February 1973, with a year in Viet Nam from September 1969 through September 1970, was an officer in the United States Army. Married my wife, Cherie in November 1971. We have two children, Zachary, 34 and Shantry, 27 and one granddaughter, Coryell, 3.5. Completed a masters program in Real Estate and Urban Development Planning in 1976 from The American University. Began my real estate career in August 1972 and have been selling, uninterrupted for over 39 years. From 1976 through 1988, taught various real estate courses at George Mason University and the Northern Virginia Community College. Am an active member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church.

Have resided and raised my family in the Mount Vernon area of Alexandria for over thirty years. Moved to Northern Virginia via Viet Nam (Bronze Star) in 1970.

From 1976-1988, was an Adjunct Professor of Real Estate at George Mason University and Northern Virginia Community College.
From 1995-2000, was a Ft. Hunt Youth Athletic Association Girls Coach, coaching the girls to one basketball and four softball Championships.
Hobbies include swimming (swam across the Chesapeake Bay [4.4 miles] for ten years-1997-2006), wine collecting (have over 1000 bottles from around the world) and travel (have a condo in Spain, a time share in Maui and a retirement home in Florida). In May/June 2007, I walked a 500+mile pilgrimage on the Camino de Santiago in Northern Spain and am planning on walking approximately 750 miles from Sevilla to Santiago, Spain in 2013.

Professional Background
Was licensed and joined the Northern Virginia Board of REALTORS (NVBR, now known as the Northern Virginia Association of REALTORS, NVAR) in August 1972.
After serving on various committes in the 70's and early 80's, was elected to NVBR Board of Directors in 1983, serving until 1990. Was elected President in 1988.
In 1989, was honored by by fellow REALTORS as REALTOR of the Year and in 1996 was elected to the NVAR Hall fo Fame. In 1997 served as Chair (and still serve as a member) of the Professional Standards Committe, the committee that reviews the professional actions of fellow REALTORS.
In 1993, was elected the President of the Virginia Association of REALTORS.
From 1988 through 1999, served as a Director to the National Association Of REALTORS (NAR). In 1989 and 2000, served as Chair of the NAR Education and Federal Taxation Committees, respectively.
