Babette Haggerty

Babette Haggerty, a New Jersey native, started traveling back and forth to West Palm Beach when her grandparents first came down as “snowbirds” in 1969.  She remembers riding horses on Haverhill Road when it was considered “way out west” and when 95 didn’t go straight through to New York.  

As young as 9 she remembers, every Sunday morning while her dad read the New York Times, she would pull out the magazine section and read the real estate listings.  Surprisingly, as much as she enjoyed always looking at real estate listings way back when you would find them in the newspaper her life took a different path.  While going to school at Florida Atlantic University, she followed in her dad’s footsteps and became a tremendously successful dog trainer.  Having a career that spanned three decades and included writing three books, appearances on The Today Show and training the dogs of celebrities, she ended up back in New York City in 2007.  An admitted workaholic, During covid she began to think about her retirement.   She would jokingly say to her staff, “when I retire I am going to live on the beach in Florida, teach yoga in the morning, sell real estate during the day and train dogs at night!” In May 2022, Babette made the leap and decided to move back “home” to Palm Beach county, the birthplace of her children, home to thousands of dog owners that she worked with over the years, and where most of her family and friends live. 

Babette lives in Delray Beach.  She shares her home with her 91 year old aunt, her 18 year old daughter who is an avid equestrian and her four dogs; a Poodle named Elvis, Chloe the Pug, Stevie, the German Shepherd and Sam, the Norfolk Terrier and Zevah the black cat!
