Cedric Viquerat Lists $1.5 Million Jewfish Key Home (Daughter Preserved Father’s Legacy)

SARASOTA, FL (September 1, 2015) – Cedric Viquerat, a sales associate with Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate’s East Manatee office, has listed 7155 La Lenaire Drive on Jewfish Key for $1.5 million. The two-story, custom home was built by Bill Ross and renovated by his daughter, Nancy Nolin in 2011. Located on the north end of Jewfish Key, the home was built on a 31,537 square-foot lot with more than 300 feet of private beachfront property.

In the 1980’s, Ross bought an acre lot on Jewfish Key overlooking Sarasota Bay. With the exception of an occasional helping hand, Ross took on this single-handed project and finished the home in three years. He floated lumber and other large items that could not be carried by boat across the bay to Jewfish Key.  Industrious and determined, he built a pulley system to hoist the pilings and beams into place. The other materials, including glass, panels, doors and bathroom fixtures, were transported by boat.

The 2,336 square-foot home has two bedrooms, two bathrooms and is easily accessible by watercraft. The master retreat is situated on the second level and features a newly installed bathroom with a granite counter top. The home also includes a fully-remodeled kitchen, extensive wood restoration of the cypress beams, poles, wood stairs and railings. Modern conveniences of the residence include a monitored alarm system, eight-camera surveillance system and Ecowater purification, filtration and osmosis system.

Ross passed away in 2009, leaving the property to his daughter. Nolin made it her mission to restore and remodel the home to preserve his legacy. She decided to show off one of the home’s most valuable features by cutting down 40 Australian pine trees, revealing the most incredible water views. In turn, she created more indoor privacy by adding walls and new windows on the sides and rear of the home while keeping the front completely glass and untouched.

“The ‘island house’, as we called it, became my project. I wanted to restore it and turn it into something beautiful again to honor him,” said Nolin. “I like to think I was able to modernize it without losing the rustic feel of the original home.”
