Their 18th-century plantation house once stood on the land now known as Rivertowne. The Lynch family story in the Lowcountry began in 1677, when Jonack Lynch emigrated from Ireland to Charles Towne. He established Blessing Plantation and quickly amassed a fortune, using his wealth to expand his holdings and solidify the family's place among the planter elite. By 1715, Jonack's son, Thomas Lynch, had acquired 1,170 acres along the east bank of the Wando River present-day Rivertowne. Thomas built a "new dwelling house" on the property, known as Brick House.
