More about Karina Loyo

Anyone can open a door and show you a home. Not everyone can help you understand how to best leverage real estate as an investment for you and your family’s future. From purchasing a home to raise a family or right-sizing after the children are grown, to making your first real estate investment and strategically building a real estate investment portfolio, with Dr. Karina Loyo as your advisor, you will be uniquely positioned to meet your goals.

Why would you want to leave your largest investment to chance? It is unfortunate that they don’t teach anything about real estate investment in school. Certainly, we are all sold on the American dream of home ownership, but most of us never got the opportunity to learn anything about how to approach the largest investment of our lives and how to grow it over time to help us meet our goals.

What we love about Dr. Karina Loyo is her passion for ensuring that she understands where you are in life, your goals, your challenges, and your desires. She takes time to truly get to know you and your needs. Along the way, she provides so much valuable information so that you can confidently make the decisions that will inevitably affect your whole life. Her philosophy is that a home should work for you. It should work for the phase in life you are in while building equity for your retirement.

You have questions. She has answers. You need help? She provides resources. If you aren’t exactly sure about what you want or need, don’t worry. She will help you gain clarity.

Her brother says there are two types of people in this world, those that love her and those that have yet to meet her. She is truly amazing and is passionate about sharing what she knows, leaving everyone feeling valued and improving their lives.

She has always taken a systems thinking approach to everything in life, from evaluating her initial degree choice and settling on studying theatre arts directing because she was shy (we don’t believe that!) and it allowed her to hone her entrepreneurial spirit building valuable project managing, marketing and customer service skills, to obtaining an MBA and subsequently a PhD in Health Promotion and Gerontology because she wanted to help people live happier and healthy lives. Along the way, she has honed her marketing and research skills over the past three decades and developed and ran statewide programs. Her accolades include writing the Strategic Plan for the Prevention of Obesity in Texas: 2005-2010, working with the CDC on the System Dynamics Model for Cardiovascular Disease Prevention, Winning the Society of Public Health Educators coveted Sarah Mazellis Paper of the Year Award, as well as influenced the research that led to more than 7 FDA approvals for pharmaceutical and medical devices. She is also an internationally published author and has a patent pending.

As a Real Estate Investment Strategist, Dr. Loyo applies her research skills to analyze the real estate market, understand trends, and help people strategically approach their real estate purchasing decisions. The systems thinking approach helps broaden her focus on how multiple local, regional, state, country-wide, and world-wide issues may affect the real estate market. But that is just the beginning, there are other factors such as the changing population parameters, such as the Aging of America and the impact it will have as the Baby Boomers enter retirement. The impact their health and retirement activities will have, and much more. She uses her coaching and teaching experience to share her knowledge and to public speak about real estate, housing and health related topics.

One of her passions is working with older adults and keeping the safe in their homes longer. She coaches older adults and their adult children on what to expect as one ages, how to modify their homes to ensure safety within the home, provides information about universal design principles, and helps them develop strategies to transition into elder care and end of life related issues. She is a valuable resource for working adults who find themselves needing to help their parents make critical decisions related to housing and their health.

In 2023, she is launching a youtube channel @housinghealthandhindsight to further share her knowledge with others.

On a personal note, she is a real estate investor, mother of six, grandmother of four, loves to read, and play games. She has been a girl scout troop leader for six years. She likes to write and loves to make friends. She grew up in Mexico City where she graduated from High School before coming to San Marcos to help her elderly grandparents. This experience is where her passion and compassion for working with older people came as she helped care for her grandmother who had Alzheimer’s and her grandfather who had a stroke.

If you have never met her before, you should. What are you waiting for? Give her a call.
