Merit McIntyre, president of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage New England, joined Massachusetts Secretary of Veteran Services’ Francisco Ureña, representatives from Homes for Our Troops and more than 300 business and community leaders at the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel in Boston for Spirit of Home. During the evening’s festivities, U.S. Marine Corporal Brandon Rumbaugh of Uniontown, Penn., a veteran who lost both of his legs while serving in the Marine Corps. in Afghanistan, was recognized for his service.
“Spirit of Home is a special and important event that gives us an opportunity to gather together and demonstrate our strong commitment to giving back. We are proud to offer our support to Homes for Our Troops, which provides a vital service to the men and women who have courageously served our country. The homes that are built by Homes for Our Troops enable veterans who have suffered life-altering injuries to live independently in their communities,” said McIntyre. “I am especially grateful for our generous sponsors and all of the employees and affiliated sales associates whose contributions made the evening a huge success.”
This is the third consecutive year that Spirit of Home has benefitted Homes for Our Troops. Past beneficiaries of Spirit of Home include the New England Center for Homeless Veterans, Pine Street Inn, Rosie’s Place, Community Servings and The Home for Little Wanderers.

About Homes for Our Troops:
Homes for Our Troops (HFOT) is a privately funded 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that builds mortgage-free, specially adapted homes nationwide for severely injured Veterans Post – 9/11, to enable them to rebuild their lives. Most of these Veterans have sustained injuries including multiple limb amputations, partial or full paralysis, and/or severe traumatic brain injury (TBI). These homes restore some of the freedom and independence our Veterans sacrificed while defending our country, and enable them to focus on their family, recovery, and rebuilding their lives. Since its inception in 2004, nearly 90 cents of every dollar has gone directly to their program services for Veterans. HFOT builds these homes where the Veteran chooses to live, and continues its relationship with the Veterans after home delivery to assist them with rebuilding their lives.
